Wafters have been used by minnow anglers for many years. Wafters were first introduced by Sonubaits in 2014 in smaller sizes to appeal to competitive anglers. Since then, flavors and colors have changed, but the principle remains the same.

A wafter should float, but sink slowly with the weight of the hook attached. This critically balances the wafter and makes it float. Because it floats when a fish feeds, it will rise faster than a standard sinking lure, resulting in more catches.

If it sinks without the weight of the hook, then it's not a wafter, it's a regular sinking bait and won't work as expected. Always check the water in a tank before using it.

Band'um wafters are a lure that has a buoyancy halfway between a sinking lure and a pop-up, designed to counteract the weight of the hook.

Perfect for use with a Method Feeder, the Band'um Wafter sits just above the pile of pellets or groundbait on the Method Feeder, meaning that when a fish feeds, the Band'um Wafter enters its mouth, resulting in more frequent and rapid bites.

The Band'um is the perfect hookbait for use with a bait band; its unique cylindrical shape with a bulbous end allows for easy rigging with a Pellet Bander or Bait Bander; plus, the bait band sits perfectly in the thinner middle section of the Band'um, which means the hook sits perfectly just below the center of the bait, meaning more fish hooked. Additionally, the Band'um is less likely to be pulled by the hair, meaning you can fish more confidently and efficiently.

The Band'um Wafter is also an ideal bait for use with pellet wagglers, as it sinks more slowly than a standard bait; the Band'um Wafter spends more time in the feeding zone than a standard bottom bait, giving the carp more opportunities to bite.

Band'um Wafters are the hookbait of choice for many experts, as they are perfect for all species of fish, including carp, bream, skimmers and F1s.

Since the buoyancy of the Band'um Wafter is balanced by the weight of the hook and elastic, you need to find the right hook for your presentation; usually, the right size to balance the Band'um Wafter is between a 12 and a 16, but it will also depend on the type of hook used.
