The Incizor has always been a fantastically versatile pattern that can be used with almost any hooklength material. The straight eye means you can use them with stiff ‘Trip Wire’ style hooklength materials on Chod rigs and Hinged Stiff rigs. Now updated as part of the introduction of the Covert Dark range, it has a longer, tapered and even sharper point.

This latest Covert Dark version of this model features the new stripped-down Covert Dark plating which still offers excellent camouflage, thanks to the dark matt finish, but also ensures that we keep the hook points absolutely intact and razor sharp. Covert Dark is a single layer electroplated; so the reduction in handling during the finishing process ensures that the points remain as sharp as the day they were made.

A second major change in the specs is that we have changed the shape and length of the Incizor point, making it longer, thinner and even sharper than before. The new long, tapered points are a major improvement that ensures the hook will bite even faster and penetrate more easily.

Gardner has also updated to a micro barb on all new Covert Dark hooks. This offers two main benefits. First, many commercial fisheries require anglers to use small barb designs because they are gentler on the fish’s mouth, and second, micro barb hooks are stronger because less wire is cut to form the point.

The Incizor has always offered exceptional hook holding as the combination of the medium length shank and straight turned point means the penetration angle is simply ‘as good as it gets’ for this style of hook; and the improved point and micro barb only enhance this performance.

Having a straight eye also means that the Incizor is the perfect pattern to use with fluorocarbon leaders as the very inward turned eyes can cause a weak point with some fluorocarbon materials. With the addition of a small heat shrink tubing kicker or Covert Hook Aligner they are superb used in conjunction with braided and stripped leaders. Truly versatile…

Incisors are a STRONG hook. They are made from extra strong wire and can be used with complete confidence in almost all carp fishing situations. During the development and testing of the Covert Dark range we have adapted the specified wire when manufacturing the size 8 Incizor hook, ensuring that this size now offers equivalent strength to all other sizes of this pattern.
