The legendary Mugga hook pattern has been instrumental in catching countless big carp. The latest Covert Dark Mugga hooks have been revamped with several key improvements that make them even better!

First, we've completely redesigned the shape and length of the Mugga's point, making it longer and much sharper than before. The new, longer, tapered points represent a huge improvement and ensure the hook bites and penetrates even faster.

Next, we switched to the new, minimally coated Covert Dark plating. This new finish still offers excellent camouflage thanks to the matte finish, and also ensures the sharpest possible point on the hook. This is a unique electroplated finish, and the reduced handling during the finishing process ensures the points remain pristine and razor-sharp.

We've also updated all new Covert Dark hooks to include a micro-barb. This offers two main advantages. First, many commercial fisheries require anglers to use models with small points because they're gentler on the fish's mouth, and second, micro-barb hooks are stronger because less wire is cut to form the point. This, combined with the longer, chemically etched point, has made the Covert Dark Mugga a truly fantastic hook.

Looking at the Mugga's design, it's easy to see why it offers unrivaled hook-setting potential when used with a variety of rig materials. The aggressive hooking action and strong hook hold this model provides are due to a combination of key features that work perfectly together.

The combination of a wide, slightly curved shank and a 25°-rotated eye causes the hook to flip over as soon as the leader tightens or the hook eye reaches the edge of the fish's lip. This unique action ensures the hook securely grips the corner of the mouth or lower lip without having to add heat shrink tubing to improve a less effective "similar" model.

Next, the alignment between the hook's eye and the super-sharp, straight point creates the best possible angle to help the hook penetrate quickly and safely. Simply put, this means you'll land more fish.

Covert Dark Mugga hooks are constructed using a forged, high carbon wire that has been double tempered to ensure they are surprisingly strong for the wire diameter.
