Covert Pop-Up Hook Aligners

The unique Covert Pop-Up Hook Aligners were developed as a simple and convenient way to create ultra effective “D” style rigs by adding a pre-formed “D” onto one of our highly effective Hook Aligners.

The result of combining two key elements; rigging your hookbaits in a ‘D’ shape and creating the aggressive hooking action with the Hook Aligner kicker, means that rigs using these components will react quicker and catch more carp. The unique Covert Pop-Up Hook Aligners can also be used with almost any hook and rig combination. This means you can now use D-Rigs with coated or uncoated braid or even lightweight monofilament.

So what's so good about rigging your hookbaits on a "D" like this?

Mounting the hookbait a couple of mm from the back of the hook shank on a free-floating hinge ensures that when the hookbait is inhaled or ingested by a grazing fish, the weight of the hook forces the point down. Combined with the angle created by the Hook Aligner, the two factors work together so that the hook rotates aggressively, taking a firm hold on the fish’s lower lip or in the scissors.

Hook Aligner Covert Pop-Ups can be used to rig most hookbaits, including balanced hookbaits and bottom baits – they’re not just for pop-ups!

They are quick and easy to use: no need to steam, shrink or shape before use! Just follow these simple steps:

Fit a Large Covert Rig Ring, Flexi Hook Swivel or Hook Swivel onto the pre-formed ‘D’ and thread the Hook Aligner onto the hooklink using a baiting needle. We have found it easier with a braided hair needle as it doesn’t get caught pulling through the rubber compound used in their manufacture.

Place the Pop-Up Hook Aligner (as shown in the diagram) by pushing the Hook Aligner over the eye of the hook. Pop-Up Hook Aligners are currently available in C-Thru Green, C-Thru Brown and C-Thru Black (Silt) and in 3 sizes.

Pop-Up Extra Large (XL) Hook Aligners are best suited for use with size 1 to 2 hooks.

Pop-Up Large Hook Aligners are best suited for use with hook sizes 2 to 6.

Small Hook Aligners are designed to work with hook sizes 8 to 12.
