Covert Tungsten Hinge Beads

These weighted Covert Tungsten Hinge Beads have been designed for use with size 12 QC or XT swivels, sliding along the hook section, securing the hook section in place on the swivel and incorporating a second hinge point at the top of the swivel which gives the chod/hinged hook section extra movement making them potentially even more effective.

The internal features ensure the bead sits neatly on the top half of the swivel, keeping everything flush and tidy without inhibiting the essential rotational motion required for optimal rig efficiency. This savvy design makes them ideal for use with all variations of hinged stiff rigs, quick-change chod rigs, or even as a modified Ronnie.

The “standard” Hinge Bead has been specified to be perfect for use with most store-bought pop-ups, in combination with reasonable sized hooks, i.e. size 4, 5 or 6 on 2-3 inch hook sections.

The "heavy" version is specially designed to counterbalance custom, high-buoyancy lures, such as cork-ball pop-ups or ready-made, high-buoyancy pop-ups.

*Remember that it is vital that chod and hinge rigs, with pop-up baits, are buoyant enough to keep the hook section straight the whole time they are in the water, as poor pop-ups can cause hook breaks on this type of rig.

Of course, you can also use them on a Ronnie or long-shank Ronnie setup. Using them on a QC-style swivel gives the hook a little extra freedom, a bit more like a 360 rig.

Beads are simple to use. Simply slide them onto the hook section, then wrap the hook section around the swivel and slide the bead down, securing the hook link in place and balancing the hook bait. To fine-tune the sinking speed of your presentation, you can shorten the bead or add a little tungsten filler until it sinks just right.

This system also makes changing hooks quick and easy.
