Ultra Skin (COATED)

The new Gardner Ultra Skin is a super soft, flexible, “skin-free” braided terminal material.

Ultra Skin is available in three matt colours: green, brown and silt and in three breaking strains: 15lb, 25lb and 35lb. They are perfectly suited to a wide range of carp and specialist fishing situations.

The 15lb test has a very low diameter (just 0.50mm) and has been used with huge success by both carp and specimen anglers looking for a rig that offers finesse without compromising reliability.

The 25lb version is the all-rounder for the carp specialist. It keeps a low profile whilst the extra strength doesn’t mean a significant jump in hooklength and at 0.55mm it’s still incredibly thin for a 25lb stripped hooklength!

At 35lb the Ultra Skin is simply formidable! It can cope with the toughest fishing situations for big carp, despite being only a fraction thicker than the 25lb versions. If you are fishing for big carp on big waters, close to snags or schools, you will need a rig you can rely on and this is it.

Stripped terminals have been widely available for many years now, Ultra Skin now offers significant improvements in feel, color, finish and ease of use.

It really is the softest and most flexible material of its kind; with the colors carefully specified and tweaked until we were 100% satisfied, they were the best shade and 100% correct.

The matt finish isn't just for show; it really helps the material blend in with the aquatic environment and the soft feel means that if a fish bumps into it whilst feeding on a baited spot it feels 'natural' and is less likely to alert a fish that might be a little 'nervous'. Of course this is also helped by the fact that the material sinks well and is more likely to settle flush with the lake bed.

As anglers we realise that most soft rigs need to be secured (as the bait tends to fall closer to the lead than the length of the rig) and a drop of Critical Mass Tungsten Putty halfway up the rig really makes a difference to the finished presentation, even with very heavy rig materials like Ultra Skin, particularly when fishing hard spots that are very clean from feeding fish.

Ultra Skin is easy to remove and will not break when tying a well-made “figure 8” loop knot.

The unique blend of polymers used in the skin makes Ultra Skin straighten easily*, even using just your fingertips.
